With over 60% of the country in the Alps, it’s likely that anyone choosing to shoot a film or TV programme in Austria may find themselves in a mountainous location. This could present difficulties for an inexperienced crew, but fortunately Austria has an established film industry with crew that are used to dealing with extreme conditions. Production sound mixer Herbert Verdino is one of them.
In the most detailed user insight so far on the Bubblebee Sidekick IFB, we talked to production sound mixer Chris Welcker (www.catgutsound.com) about the audio wizardry behind the film Bill and Ted Face the Music. Chris first heard that the show was in pre-production around January 2019 and jumped at the chance at working on the film, which was finally released August 28th, 2020 in the USA.
From Brazilian rainforests and Indian mountains to volcanos in Nicaragua, production sound mixer Kevin Bellante never fails to raise an eyebrow with his photos from the field. He grew up in Chatsworth and now hails from Los Angeles, California in the San Fernando Valley. When he's not recording sound for productions near and far, which is seldom, he enjoys camping and scuba diving (most recently at the Great Barrier Reef). That, plus he's always trying to squeeze in some Dungeons and Dragons with friends. With such a busy schedule, we're thankful that he managed to talk to us a little about his career and give us a behind the scenes perspective on some of his recent adventures.
We first met Production Sound Mixer Chris Welcker at a sandwich shop in New Orleans having lunch with Justin and Lukas from SoundHard. A New Orleans local all his life, Chris started out in music and media and quickly found his niche in production sound.
