Foam provides basic protection for light wind and indoor use. For heavy outdoor wind, use foam as a base layer under a fur windshield.

Can I layer this under a blimp?
No. Inside a blimp the mic should run bare, because the blimp creates its own pocket of still air. A foam inside the blimp adds nothing and can dull the high frequencies.
